Former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned from the Union Cabinet after weeks of controversy surrounding the NEET-UG 2026 examination. In a detailed public letter addressed to the country’s youth, he said the decision was taken to ensure that students remained focused on their education instead of becoming caught in political disagreements and legal uncertainty.

In his letter, Pradhan said he has devoted more than four decades to students, teachers, and education reforms. He wrote that he accepted responsibility for the situation from the very first day and never attempted to distance himself from the controversy.
