As E20 petrol becomes the standard fuel at petrol stations across India, many motorists have started noticing a small drop in fuel economy, similar to the recent petrol price increase. According to the government, automakers, and technical experts, a modest reduction in mileage is an expected outcome of using E20 petrol. The reason lies in the science of the fuel itself rather than any widespread mechanical issue. While some drivers may experience a slightly bigger or smaller difference depending on traffic, driving habits, and vehicle condition, experts generally say a reduction of around 3% to 5% is within the expected range for many vehicles certified to run on E20.
