State-Wise Petrol and Diesel Prices in India After Fourth Fuel Hike in 10 Days

Fuel prices across India continued their sharp upward movement on May 25, 2026, after state-run oil marketing companies implemented the fourth petrol and diesel price increase in 10 days. The latest revision increased petrol prices by ₹2.61 per litre and diesel prices by ₹2.71 per litre, taking cumulative hikes since May 15 to nearly ₹7.38 to ₹7.50 per litre.

The rapid price revisions come after global crude oil prices surged following tensions in West Asia and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes. Brent crude prices have remained elevated for several sessions, increasing pressure on Indian oil retailers and import costs.

Retail fuel prices continue to vary sharply across states and Union Territories because of differences in Value Added Tax (VAT), local cesses, freight charges, and dealer commissions imposed by state governments.
