IPL 2026 Orange Cap List

IPL 2026 Orange Cap Race Enters Playoffs as GT, SRH, RCB and RR Batters Battle for Top Spot

  • Sai Sudharsan leads the Orange Cap standings heading into the playoffs
  • GT and SRH dominate the top run-scoring charts with multiple batters inside the top 10
  • Virat Kohli remains RCB’s biggest batting threat entering knockout matches
  • Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues his breakout season for Rajasthan Royals
  • Playoff matches could completely reshape the Orange Cap standings

The IPL 2026 league stage has officially concluded, but the Orange Cap race remains far from over. With Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals advancing into the playoffs, several leading run-scorers still have opportunities to add major runs during the knockout stage.

At present, Gujarat Titans hold the strongest position in the batting charts through Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, while Sunrisers Hyderabad continue to dominate through Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. RCB and RR also remain strongly represented through Virat Kohli and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi respectively.

Top Orange Cap Contenders From Playoff Teams

Player Team Runs Average Strike Rate 100s 50s
Sai Sudharsan GT 638 49.08 157.92 1 7
Shubman Gill GT 616 47.38 161.67 0 6
Heinrich Klaasen SRH 606 50.50 183.47 0 6
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi RR 583 41.64 232.27 1 3
Abhishek Sharma SRH 565 43.31 205.22 1 4
Virat Kohli RCB 557 50.64 163.82 1 4
Ishan Kishan SRH 560 40.64 175.56 0 6

GT Hold Strongest Position in Orange Cap Race

Gujarat Titans enter the playoffs with two batters occupying the top two positions in the Orange Cap standings. Sai Sudharsan currently leads the race with 638 runs, while captain Shubman Gill remains close behind with 616 runs.

The advantage for Gujarat Titans is significant because a top-two finish guarantees them at least two playoff matches. If GT reach the final, both Sudharsan and Gill could extend their lead substantially.

Sudharsan’s consistency throughout the league stage has been particularly impressive, while Gill continues to combine technical stability with aggressive scoring during powerplays.

SRH Continue to Dominate Batting Depth

Sunrisers Hyderabad remain the strongest batting unit statistically entering the playoffs. Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan have all crossed 550 runs this season.

Klaasen remains one of the most dangerous middle-order batters in the tournament, maintaining a strike rate above 183. Abhishek Sharma, meanwhile, continues to operate at one of the most explosive strike rates in IPL history, scoring above 200 this season.

SRH’s aggressive batting approach has allowed multiple players to remain active in the Orange Cap race simultaneously.

Virat Kohli Remains RCB’s Biggest Threat

Although Virat Kohli currently sits behind the GT and SRH batters, the RCB opener remains a major contender entering the knockout phase. Kohli has scored 557 runs at an average above 50 while maintaining a strike rate above 160.

Importantly, RCB’s top-two finish guarantees Kohli at least two playoff opportunities to close the gap at the top of the standings.

Given Kohli’s experience in pressure matches, strong playoff performances could quickly push him back into serious Orange Cap contention.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Emerges as RR’s X-Factor

Rajasthan Royals batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become one of the biggest breakout stars of IPL 2026. The RR opener has scored 583 runs at an extraordinary strike rate above 230.

His fearless powerplay batting has transformed Rajasthan’s scoring tempo this season and remains one of the key reasons behind their playoff qualification.

If RR make a deep playoff run, Sooryavanshi could become one of the most serious challengers to Sai Sudharsan’s lead.

Playoffs Could Completely Change Final Standings

Unlike eliminated teams whose totals are now fixed, players from GT, SRH, RCB and RR still have opportunities to significantly increase their run tallies during the playoffs.

Teams reaching the IPL 2026 final could potentially play two additional matches, creating enough opportunities for major movement near the top of the Orange Cap standings.

At present, Sai Sudharsan holds the advantage, but the close margins between the leading contenders mean the Orange Cap race could ultimately be decided during the IPL 2026 final itself.
