RCB Finish League Stage at the Top

Royal Challengers Bengaluru completed the league stage with 18 points from 14 matches and secured the top position because of their superior net run rate. RCB maintained consistency throughout the season and now enter the playoffs as one of the strongest title contenders.

Their balanced performances with both bat and ball helped them stay ahead of Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad despite all three teams finishing level on points.

GT and SRH Also Confirm Playoff Qualification

Gujarat Titans secured second place with a net run rate of +0.695, while Sunrisers Hyderabad finished third with +0.524. Both teams recorded nine victories each during the league stage.

GT continued to impress with disciplined bowling performances and reliable middle-order batting, while SRH remained one of the tournament’s most aggressive batting sides despite a few late setbacks.

PBKS Hold Fourth Spot Amid Tight Qualification Race

Punjab Kings ended the league stage with 15 points from 14 matches and currently occupy the fourth position. Their campaign included seven victories and one no-result fixture.

Although PBKS struggled for consistency in the latter half of the tournament, earlier wins ensured they remained inside the qualification zone entering the final playoff calculations.

RR and KKR Continue to Remain in Contention

Rajasthan Royals remain fifth with 14 points from 13 matches and still have an opportunity to improve their standing depending on their final fixture. Kolkata Knight Riders also remain mathematically alive with 13 points from 13 matches.

However, both teams may require favorable outcomes in other matches along with strong net run rate support to move into the top four.

CSK and DC Fall Behind in the Race

Chennai Super Kings completed their season with 12 points after winning six of their 14 matches. Delhi Capitals also remain on 12 points but continue to struggle because of a significantly negative net run rate.

Both teams now face difficult qualification scenarios as the playoff race approaches its conclusion.

MI and LSG Officially Out of Playoff Contention

Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants endured disappointing IPL 2026 campaigns, finishing near the bottom of the standings with only eight points each.

Multiple defeats across the second half of the season left both franchises unable to recover, officially ending their playoff hopes before the knockout stage.

Net Run Rate Becomes Decisive Factor

With several teams finishing close on points, net run rate has emerged as one of the most decisive factors in the IPL 2026 standings. RCB’s superior margin ultimately helped them secure first place, while teams lower down the table continue to depend heavily on mathematical qualification scenarios.

The final round of league matches is expected to determine the remaining playoff positions and possible top-two finishes.
